What if I wish to repay part or all of my mortgage early?
If you decide to repay all or part of your mortgage early, an early
repayment charge may apply. This is determined by the type of interest
rate you have, the amount you are repaying and the date you took
out your mortgage.
Can I protect my mortgage payments against illness, disability
or unemployment?
You can do this with our mortgage payment protection insurance policy.
Please Contact Us for details.
How do I repay my mortgage?
You can choose to have your mortgage on a repayment or interest
only basis. With a repayment mortgage you make one payment each
month for the length of the mortgage, which covers both the interest
and repayment of capital. With an interest only mortgage you pay
only the interest each month. You can then decide how you wish to
invest your money in order to pay off your mortgage at the end of
the term. If you are unable to decide which option you prefer, you
can have a combination of part repayment and part interest only.
As I am self employed, what options are available to me?
All our mortgages are available to the self employed. There is also
a Self Certification mortgage specifically for the employed and
self employed for whom proving their total income is not always
simple.
What is Self Certification?
Self Certification mortgages are for self-employed and employed
applicants for whom proving their total income is not simple. Instead
of proving your income, you are asked to calculate how much of your
income you can put towards your mortgage after deducting tax, other
regular commitments and the cost of living.
Do I have to take out any compulsory insurance?
No. Buildings insurance is required on all properties but does not
have to be arranged through us.
What if I can't meet my mortgage repayments in any particular
month?
Please call and ask to speak to our Arrears Management team to discuss
your individual circumstances. Please note that for our mutual protection
and to improve service standards we may monitor and/or record telephone
calls.
